Nine dances to teach

A Pupil went to a dance Teacher and said, "Teacher, you are best dance teacher, you stay in oblivion, can you teach me your dances ?"

Teacher said, "I stay with my dances and I do not teach anyone, Go home".

But Pupil did not go home, he requested him again and again. Days passed and one day Teacher agreed.

He said, "I will teach you 9 dances, once you learn first dance, and start for second dance, you should continue the first dance and so on. By the time you learn 9th dance, you will have to dance all 9 dances at the same time." Unaware of its meaning and consequences, Pupil agreed happily.

Then Teacher warned, "I will not be responsible for the effects of these dances on you !". Pupil agreed to that also and Teacher smiled gently.

So the training started.

Teacher took Pupil to a dark quite room and said, "You sit here with your knees touching your chin and eyes closed. You listen to whatever sound that hits your ear". Pupil did so, the dance started and that was a dance of unknown !

Second dance was a dance of "there was a light". As promised, Pupil kept on dancing the first dance and learned second.

Thirdly, Teacher took Pupil to a jungle and said, "This is your third dance. Touch all the leaves of trees around you and dance. But remember you still need to dance first and second dances at the same time." This was difficult, but Pupil did learn that too !

Before they could start fourth dance, Teacher fell ill or that's what Teacher said. He said to Pupil, "Pupil, I am ill, help me, go and bring the leaves that you touched for your third dance. Consider this as your fourth dance and so you must dance first, second, and third too !" So Pupil obeyed !

For fifth dance, Teacher took Pupil to river bed. Teacher said, "See there are birds around, river humming a song. Can you feel what all have to say and start our fifth dance ?" Pupil said, "Yes, Master !!" That's the way he learned his fifth dance all along with first to fourth dances.

Sixth dance was very difficult. Teacher said, "I can not "teach" you sixth dance. You will have to learn yourself." Pupil asked, "How ?". Teacher said, "The way we feel good or bad time is coming, the way we feel the presence of good or bad, the same way you must learn yourself the dance of sixth". Pupil looked at bright face of his Teacher and he understood what he said. He learned the dance of sixth by himself !

Teacher said, "For seventh dance, you will have to walk on a path laden with difficulties, but must walk paying all attention to your dance". This was very difficult dance indeed, but with determination, Pupil learned that too !

"Do you know what happen when you throw a wooden stick in fire ?", asked Teacher. Pupil said, "It burns, it gets destroyed". Teacher said, "Yes, eighth dance is about destruction, about end". So Teacher taught the dance of destruction, of end to Pupil. But this time he told Pupil to do the dance alone without doing any earlier dance ! Pupil followed that obediently and learned the eighth dance.

Now came the time for ninth dance. Teacher said, "My dear Pupil, you have learned all 8 dances with great zeal and dedication. Now I teach you the ninth and last dance of all. Are you ready ?" "Yes", so said Pupil.

Teacher said, "Good. Dance all 8 dances at the same time. Practice it till the time your body, mind stand still and that is the dance of Ninth, of freedom !!" Pupil was amazed hearing those luminous words from his great Teacher.

As instructed he started his dance, it took long, but all the hard work was paid, slowly he understood meaning of nine dances. Those dances of life, of this entire universe, both known and unknown !! He went further and attained a state of standstill where he could see his entire life stand still. He kept going further and could see entire universe frozen in time. It was a dimension, not entered by many before !!
